Former Marine Terminal Demolition
Project Background
Sabre completed the decommissioning, decontamination and demolition of a former petroleum storage and marine terminal. All work was completed within an active port and under the jurisdiction of the Port of Newark and NJ Port Authority.
Work included asbestos abatement, tank and piping DDI, universal and electronic waste collection and loose lead-based paint abatement. Demolition of large aboveground storage tanks, small UST's, buildings, above grade piping and pipe racks. Subsurface piping, concrete foundations and improvements were removed in their entirety. Several large unloading structures situated on a berth were dismantled by crane/rigging from a barge. Construction of a temporary water treatment plant and groundwater well point system to support the remedial excavation of 13,000 CY of hydrocarbon impacted soils. The site was restored with gravel and paving to meet Port of Newark and NJ Port Authority requirements.
