Mineville Site Demolition
Project Background
Former iron ore processing facility that accepted material via train cars, to be stored in silos and processed through a large concentrator building. Byproduct from the activities was stores onsite in large tailings piles.
Subcontractors abated asbestos containing materials in addition to abatement under variance in place mechanically due to hardships of building integrity. Additional subcontractors performed clearing and grubbing of trees and vegetation to allow demolition activities to commence. Grubbing was completed prior to the deadline put in place by NYDEC due to endangered animals known to live within the area.
Crews performed universal and electronic waste removals prior to demolition of multiple silos, conveyors, concentrator, hydroseparator, pump, scale, and thickener structures. Hardscapes generated from work was sized and placed within the former footprint as clean backfill. The concentrator building was demolished under variance via wet methods due to galbestos roofing. NORM contaminated conveyors were segregated and disposed of vs recycling at a salvage vendor.
