Rome Mill Abandoned Areas Demolition

Project Background

Sabre completed the asbestos abatement, industrial cleaning and dismantlement of abandoned structures at the IP Rome Mill. All work was performed within an active paper mill plant.

Work included the removal of a retired Electrostatic Precipitator, Recovery and Power Boiler, Lime Kilns and Evaporator Systems, structures range from 60’ to 140’ high. A 550-ton hydraulic crane is utilized to pick pieces ranging from 2,000 pounds to 25,000 pounds at a 150' to 200' radius. The entire perimeter of the ESP has been enclosed in scaffolding. Crane man baskets and manlifts were used to access to elevated areas.
